Fathers from Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) households were equipped with basic barbering skills through the โGunting nin Paglaomโ Livelihood Skills Training conducted on March 12, 2026, at the Cultural Center of San Jose, Camarines Sur as part of the municipalityโs celebration of National Womenโs Month.
The activity was supported by the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office V – Bicol Region – 4Ps, in partnership with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of San Jose and the Municipal Operations Office of San Jose. The initiative aimed to provide practical and income-generating skills for fathers to help strengthen family economic capacity and promote responsible fatherhood.
A total of 44 participants joined the training, including 11 Pantawid beneficiary-fathers and 33 community members. The training was conducted in partnership with the Partido Barbers Association, with members serving as trainers on basic haircutting techniques, proper tool use and maintenance, sanitation and hygiene, and client handling.
Hands-on practice, demonstration sessions, and an open forum allowed participants to apply their learning and gain confidence in performing basic barbering services. Certificates were awarded to participants after completing the training.
The activity also opened discussions on the possible establishment of ERPAT (Empowered and Reaffirmed Paternal Abilities) in the municipality to strengthen the role of fathers in family development and community participation.
The โGunting nin Paglaomโ training reflects the continuing efforts of DSWD Bicol to implement inclusive and gender-responsive interventions under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.
