LEGAZPI CITY – โFilled with gratitude and a sense of fulfillment, 580 parent-beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Tara, Basa! Program gathered at the Daraga Covered Court on July 8, 2026, where they received their participation incentives after successfully completing the program’s 20-day Tutoring and Parenting Sessions.

โImplemented from May 11 to June 5, 2026, the program served parents of struggling readers from 19 participating elementary schools in Daraga, Albay. While learners received daily reading interventions from trained Tutors, parents attended parenting sessions designed to strengthen their knowledge and skills as their children’s first teachers at home, facilitated by the Youth Development Workers.

โParents who successfully completed the 20-day sessions received a participation incentive of Php 235 per day, or a total of Php 4,700 each. In Daraga alone, a total of Php 2,643,045 in participation incentives was distributed to qualified beneficiaries.

โDuring the payout activity, many parents shared how the program had positively influenced not only their children’s learning but also their own perspectives on parenting and education.

โAlso present during the payout activity were the youth beneficiaries who previously served as Tutors and YDWs. Continuing the spirit of volunteerism fostered by the program, they assisted in ensuring the orderly and safe distribution of incentives.
