Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 267 series of 1993, the month of October of every year is the commemoration of Children’s Month and October 24 marks the Universal Children’s Day.

The theme of this year’s celebration is Kahirapan Wakasan. Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban. Its objective strongly advocate the children’s rights.

Along the month’s celebration is the conduct of activities for day care children by the respective  LGU’s, PO’s and other NGO’s catering for the welfare of children.

In Cawayan, Masbate about 500 day care children from 75 day care centers in town participated in this big impact. It was not just a day of fun for children but a worthwhile experience for some kids being their first time to see and interact with a mascot; Jollibee and Hetty. The LGU also distributed toys and other goodies for the children.

The highlight of the day’s affair was the delivery the State of the Children’s Address done by Cawayan Mayor Edgar Condor. In his message, Mayor Condor shared his accomplishment relative to the implementation of programs and services for children’s welfare. He also pledged his support in the advocacy campaign on the children’s rights, strengthen the implementation of the day care program will increase the honorarium of the day care centers by P500 and sustain the supplemental feeding program.

Meanwhile, Field Office V will be conducting the Children’s Summit on October 31, at the Liberty Commercial Center, Legazpi City.

With 67 children in attendance, most of whom are Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries. The activity aims to provide stronger advocacy on children’s rights, showcase talents through literary arts competition and encourage our partners for their continuous support to the Pantawid Pamilya Program.

In Camarines Sur, a Provincial Children’s Summit will also be held. In line with the event, the “Kaya Ko” advocacy campaign will be part of the program. This is to highlight gains and impact of the Pantawid Pamilya among the beneficiaries particularly the children.###eejerusalem
