LEGAZPI CITY, BICOL—Regional Director Norman S. Laurio of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V – Bicol Region visited the Project LAWA at BINHI sites on June 18, 2025, underscoring his strong support for community-led agricultural initiatives.

During his visit, RD Laurio personally inspected the rehabilitated lawa and communal gardens established by partner-beneficiaries as part of the department’s efforts to build sustainable livelihoods. He walked around the sites to see firsthand the progress achieved through collective action and dedication.

In his message, Director Laurio lauded the beneficiaries for their hard work in transforming idle areas into productive spaces.

“Ako mismo ay isang tagasuporta ng agrikultura. Malapit ito sa aking puso dahil alam ko ang potensyal nito para makapagbigay ng mas maayos na kabuhayan sa bawat pamilyang Pilipino,” he shared, emphasizing the lasting impact of agriculture-based livelihood on communities.

He also offered practical tips to the partner-beneficiaries on maintaining their lawa and communal gardens, highlighting best practices that will help ensure the long-term success and sustainability of their efforts.

According to Laurio, nurturing these projects not only contributes to food security but also empowers families to break free from the cycle of poverty.

Project LAWA at BINHI, implemented in collaboration with local government units and community organizations, continues to showcase how agricultural rehabilitation and capacity building can uplift the lives of vulnerable sectors in Bicol.

With the committed leadership of RD Laurio and the active participation of partner-beneficiaries, the project stands as a testament to the power of collective action and shared purpose.
