In response to the devastating impact of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V in the Bicol Region has distributed PHP56,538,204.00 in family food packs (FFPs) to affected families. These efforts are conducted under the directives of DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian.
“To ensure timely assistance, the Social Welfare and Development Offices (SWADOs) and City/Municipal SWAD Quick Response Teams (QRTs) in the six provinces are closely coordinating with the Local Government Units (LGUs) for status reports and updates,” said Regional Director Norman S. Laurio.
As of October 25, 2024, at 6:00 AM., the Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) reported that the Field Office has a total of PHP 196,728,304,61 in standby funds and stockpiles.
In addition to these resources, the department has prepositioned 89,227 FFPs, valued at PHP 63,316,352.58, in strategic locations throughout the Bicol Region.
Furthermore, DSWD personnel, in collaboration with LGUs, have distributed PHP 622,844.00 worth of hot meals at various ports in the region.
Director Laurio emphasized that the Department is committed to reaching affected families, especially in isolated areas, to provide the necessary support during this challenging time.
