ย
Despite the challenges and the holiday season, DSWD Bicol continues to deliver essential aid to affected communities. Notably, on All Saintsโ€™ Day, November 1, Regional Director Norman S. Laurio personally delivered 520 family food packs to the island barangay of Sumaoy in Garchitorena, ensuring that families receive much-needed support during this time. Sumaoy is located in the eastern part of the Bicol Region, marked on the map as part of the province of Camarines Sur, a key area that has been significantly affected by both the storm and its geographical isolation.
ย
In partnership with the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region V, Philippine Army, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Air Force (PAF), Myanmar Air Force (MAF), Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF), Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), and Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), a total of 1,272 Family Food Packs (FFPs) valued at Php 903,120 have been distributed to various coastal barangays in the municipality of Garchitorena, including Brgy. Binagasbasan with 363 ffps, Brgy. Dangla with 174 ffps, and Brgy. Burabod with 215 ffps.
ย
This collaboration underscores the agency’s dedication to overcoming logistical challenges and reaching the most vulnerable populations.
ย
โ€œWe recognize the importance of timely assistance, especially during difficult times like these. Our team is committed to ensuring that every family in GIDA areas receives the support they need to recover and rebuild,โ€ Director Laurio said.

DSWD Field Office V remains dedicated to ongoing relief efforts and will continue to explore all available avenues to support affected communities in the Bicol Region.
