Nine (9) community groups will attend the 3rd National Community Volunteers’ Congress and 5th National Bayani Ka! Awards with the theme, “Padayon, Kalahi-CIDSS” in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte on August 12-16, 2019.
These community groups are winners of 5th Regional Bayani Ka! Awards recognized last June 14, 2018 at Casablanca Hotel, Legazpi City, Albay.
The Bayani Ka! Awards is an annual event of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (DSWD Kalahi-CIDSS) to recognize exemplary community volunteers, local government units and partners stakeholders who actively engaged in and promoted Community-Driven Development (CDD) approach.
CDD is a globally recognized strategy for achieving service delivery, poverty reduction and good governance outcomes.

Gender and Development Category
HALUBAN Barangay Sub-Project Management Committee (BSPMC) – Brgy. Haluban, Lupi, Camarines Sur
Elderly Category
Pinontingan Senior Citizen’s Organization – Brgy. Pinontingan, Gubat, Sorsogon
Youth Category
Youth Task Force – Brgy. Poblacion Central, Barcelona, Sorsogon
Promotion of Just Peace Category
San Jose BSPMC – Brgy. San Jose, Lupi, Camarines Sur
Sustained Community Volunteer Group Category
Lumbang Water System Association (LUWASA) – Brgy. Lumbang, Pilar, Sorsogon
Persons with Disability (PWD) Category
Lantangan BSPMC – Brgy. Lantangan, Mandaon, Masbate
Improved Local Governance Category
Ilaor Norte Barangay Local Government Unit – Brgy. Ilaor Norte, Oas, Albay
Indigenous Peoples’ Welfare Category
Agta-Tabangnon – Brgy. Salog, Goa, Camarines Sur
Environment Protection Category
Rural Workers’ Organization of Brgy. San Ramon – Brgy. San Ramon, Barcelona, Sorsogon
The event also aims to develop a pool of champions that will help in promoting the institutionalization of CDD.
As of June 2019, there are 2,664 completed community projects in the Bicol Region benefitting 498,139 households.
On the other hand, a total of 85,102 community volunteers actively contributed to local development. /ramsertan/
