Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) participants and associations, together with the dedicated DSWD Bicol SLP personnel, successfully wrapped up the week with a total of ₱95,163 in sales, showcasing their locally produced goods during a recent bazaar. Their efforts highlight the economic empowerment and entrepreneurial skills fostered through the program.

BICOL, PHILIPPINES – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) participants and associations in the Bicol Region achieved remarkable sales during recent national and regional events, highlighting the positive impact of livelihood interventions on local communities.

 

During a two-day product display at the DSWD Program Management Bureau’s National Training for Residential Care Facilities’ Center Heads, held at Gamboa’s Orchard in San Jose, Malilipot, Albay, from September 10-11, 2024, SLP participants and associations achieved total sales of ₱30,254.00.

 

This event showcased the finest products from program beneficiaries across various provinces, providing them with a valuable platform to reach a wider audience and boost their income.

 

Following this success, SLP participants also participated in the “Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Tapat Para sa Lahat” Kadiwa ng Pangulo event on September 13, 2024, held at six different locations across Bicol.

 

This productive event generated total sales of ₱64,909.00. Catanduanes led with ₱24,600 in sales, followed by Albay with ₱23,118. Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Sorsogon recorded sales of ₱7,206, ₱7,780, and ₱2,205, respectively.

 

In addition to the physical sales, field staff engaged in live selling during the Kadiwa ng Pangulo event, enabling SLP products to reach a broader online audience. This innovative approach significantly boosted sales and enhanced the visibility of participants’ offerings.

Representatives of the Bigasan sa Basud SLP Association proudly receive ₱120,000 in financial assistance, alongside the Purok Tanglad 1 SLP Association, awarded ₱150,000. These grants mark a significant boost for local livelihoods, empowering the associations to pursue sustainable economic activities and contribute to community development.

The event also featured the awarding of financial assistance to two SLP associations from Polangui, Albay. The Bigasan sa Basud SLP Association received ₱120,000, while the Purok Tanglad 1 SLP Association was awarded ₱150,000. These awards represent a crucial step in supporting local livelihoods and empowering communities through sustainable economic activities.

 

The success of SLP participants in these events, combined with the field staff’s live selling efforts, highlights the effectiveness of DSWD’s ongoing initiatives to uplift Filipinos through livelihood programs and partnerships with government initiatives like Kadiwa ng Pangulo.###
