DSWD Bicol Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) orients 405 Recovered Persons who Used Drugs (RPWUDs) about the program during the LGU-Libmanan’s Aftercare Program on November 14 and 19, 2024.

To support the reintegration of Recovered Persons Who Used Drugs (RPWUDs) into society, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V – Bicol Region, through its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Libmanan, conducted a Capability Building Training for 405 RPWUDs on November 14 and 19, 2024.

The training sessions focused on Micro-Enterprise Development, Basic Business Management, and Financial Literacy, equipping participants with critical skills to establish and sustain livelihoods.

This initiative is part of LGU-Libmanan’s Aftercare Program, which aims to support the successful reintegration of rehabilitated individuals by fostering economic independence. Participants gained practical knowledge in managing small businesses, understanding financial concepts, and making informed decisions to secure their financial future. Many of the participants were also validated for livelihood assistance, receiving up to PHP 15,000.00 each through the DSWD-SLP.

Regional Director Norman S. Laurio emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “Through collaboration and empowerment, we aim to provide second chances and help rehabilitated individuals rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.”

The training highlights the essential partnership between the LGU of Libmanan and the SLP in promoting community development. It empowers participants to contribute meaningfully to their families and communities, supporting inclusive growth and sustainable livelihoods.###
