The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office V – Bicol Region carried out a comprehensive relief operation on Friday, January 17, distributing PHP 3 million worth of Family Food Packs (FFPs) to 4,217 families affected by recent typhoons and the ongoing shear line weather phenomenon.

Families in shear line-affected areas of Matnog and Bulusan, Sorsogon, received 471 FFPs, while 281 FFPs were distributed to residents in two barangays in Capalonga, Camarines Norte.

In Viga, Catanduanes, the agency provided 808 FFPs to families in five barangays.

Additionally, relief assistance was extended to families in the provinces of Camarines Sur and Catanduanes, who are still recovering from the impacts of Tropical Cyclones “Kristine” and “Pepito.”

A total of 873 families from Barangays Libod and Salvacion in Pandan, Catanduanes, were assisted through the agency’s relief efforts.

Meanwhile, in Camarines Sur, 1,774 FFPs were delivered to families in 10 severely affected barangays in Iriga City and the Municipality of Tigaon.

These relief operations are part of the agency’s ongoing commitment to addressing the immediate needs of disaster-stricken families, particularly their food security and access to essential items.

DSWD Bicol remains on high alert, working closely with local government units to ensure prompt assistance to communities impacted by weather disturbances and other calamities.###
