Legazpi City, Albay – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V – Bicol Region promptly extended financial assistance to the families of eight Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) members from Tabaco City, Albay, who were involved in a tragic vehicular accident in Laguna.

The accident occurred at midnight on January 20, 2025, in Alaminos, Laguna, resulting in one fatality and leaving seven individuals severely injured.

On the afternoon of January 20, 2025, the DSWD provided each family with Php5,000 in transportation assistance through the Agency’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Program. This financial aid aims to help the families cover transportation expenses as they attend to their loved ones currently hospitalized for further medical care.

In addition, medical assistance for the injured is being facilitated through DSWD CALABARZON, while funeral assistance will be extended to the bereaved family.

This initiative was carried out in close coordination with the Tabaco City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Under the leadership of Regional Director Norman S. Laurio, DSWD Bicol remains in close communication with the families and the Local Government Unit to ensure that all affected individuals receive the necessary support and assistance. ##
