Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V – Bicol Region has provided financial assistance to four fishermen from Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte, who were rescued after their boat was wrecked in the waters of Quezon Province.
The fishermen set out to sea at dawn on January 13, 2025, but failed to return within their expected time of arrival. The following day, January 14, 2025, another fisherman discovered them floating among the debris of their destroyed fishing boat near the waters of Brgy. Upper Dapdap, Calauag, Quezon.
On January 30, 2025, through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, DSWD Bicol provided Php 10,000 in financial aid to each of four affected fishermen to help them recover from the incident. In addition, the boat owner, whose vessel was wrecked and sunk due to strong winds, was also provided with similar financial assistance.
This intervention underscores DSWD’s commitment to assisting individuals and families facing unforeseen crises, particularly those whose livelihoods are at risk due to natural disasters, accidents, or other unforeseen adversities.##
