LEGAZPI CITY, BICOL—The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V – Bicol Region through its Disaster Response Management Division, successfully concluded the Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) and Individual Displaced Persons Protection (IDPP) Training of Trainers on June 2-6, 2025, at La Piazza Hotel, Legazpi City.
The sessions were filled with activities focusing on critical thinking and discussions, allowing every participant to share their thoughts on various disaster situations and identifying factors that can improve the delivery of social services during disaster situations.
Day one started with the introduction of the International and National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Framework and National Disaster Response Plan together with the Cluster System Approach and Core Humanitarian Standards and Principles. These methodologies provide the blueprint for the contextualization of reducing risks caused by disasters. Policies that were discussed in the session are crucial components for the efficient delivery of immediate response services to communities who are vulnerable to the effects of various catastrophic events.
The second day of the activity focused on Camp Facilities and Camp Services and the life phases in these areas. This is also followed with a CCCM and IDP Protection structures and Information Management. With a full grasp of the fundamental concepts.
The third day commenced with the topic on Reporting Tools which is followed by activities on how to familiarize on how to use it by applying it through an action plan activity.
On the last day of the said training, the participants experienced how to implement what they have learned through an Impromptu Speaking exercise after attending to a discussion on Basic Facilitation Skills. This ensured that the attendees were able to internalized what they have learned from knowledge based sessions to simulation based application of the various methodologies and framework that were discussed.
As various disaster situation occur due to the demographic location of the region, the agency is constantly developing and improving its service delivery through training and development activities for its field team to become more prepared to execute the processes necessary to minimize the impacts of natural calamities.
Our “Angels in Red Vests” are now poised to support similar initiatives and will strengthen disaster risk reduction and readiness during disasters by empowering their particular provinces, cities, and municipalities.
With the leadership of Secretary Rex Gatchalian and the direction of our Regional Director Norman S. Laurio, DSWD Bicol keeps improving its services by adjusting to the many changes that take place throughout the region by continually adapting to the ever-changing panorama of disasters. ##
