The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V – Bicol Region, in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), officially launched Taruman 2025, a consultative assessment aimed at strengthening the implementation of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). The event is being held from May 6–7, 2025, at Hotel Sentro, Legazpi City.
The two-day activity convenes representatives from DILG, provincial governments, and local government units (PLGUs) across Bicol. It seeks to review and align implementation strategies under Joint Memorandum Circular 2022-001, enhancing coordination to better support 4Ps beneficiaries.
In his welcome remarks, DSWD Bicol Regional Director Norman S. Laurio urged partners to deepen their collective commitment to uplifting poor Filipino families. “𝘐𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, ” he said, highlighting success stories of 4Ps children now in college or serving as DSWD staff.
The assessment focuses on reviewing City and Municipal Action Plans (CMAPs) and tools under the JMC, identifying implementation gaps, innovations, and planning future interventions aligned with Republic Act 11310 and the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
“𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺’𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳𝘴,” RD Laurio emphasized, underscoring the critical role of LGUs in sustaining program gains.
Taruman is expected to yield actionable plans and stronger local support systems to improve the lives of 4Ps families in Bicol.
