As part of promoting legal adoption in the Philippines, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region V and partner-government agencies will conduct a week-long celebration of Adoption Consciousness with the theme, “Pagmamahal Palaganapin, Legal na Pag-aampon Ating Gawin! (Spread Unconditional Love through Legal Adoption) this coming February 22 to March 7, 2018.

The theme promotes legal adoption as an expression of unconditional love and support to abandoned, neglected and surrendered children.

This year’s celebration aims to disseminate basic information about adoption, educate the public on the legal process of adoption, respond to inquiries of the public on adoption and other forms of alternative family care and provide program orientation on adoption and foster care laws and guidelines.

The celebration will kick off with a Fun Run starting from Bicol University main entrance to Peñaranda Park, Legazpi City on February 22, 2018.

It will be followed by a brief program and hand printing activity as part of the commitment setting on raising awareness about legal adoption.

As part of the consciousness week, adoption help desks will be opened simultaneously at SM Naga City, Camarines Sur and Ayala Mall, Legazpi City on February 24-25, 2018 to provide information about the adoption process, documentary requirements, procedures and the benefits and effects of adoption to the public.

Help desks will be also available in the DSWD Provincial Offices particularly in Camarines Norte and Albay on February 27, Camarines Sur on February 28, Catanduanes and Masbate on March 1 and Sorsogon on March 2.

The department will lead adoption fora in the different schools such as Unibersidad de Sta. Isabel in Naga City and Bicol University Tabaco campus on March 1 and 7, respectively. #PRRAMS2018Feb20
