Legazpi City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region V conducted an orientation on Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) to evacuation management team members to the nine (9) municipalities affected by Mayon Volcano eruption last February 22, 2018 at Bicol Food Delights Restaurant and Events Hall, Legazpi City.
Dir. Arnel Garcia reiterated that DSWD Region V is aiming for zero-issues during the Mayon Disaster Operations, and through the CCCM capacity building of camp managers, the welfare of the evacuees is ensured.
The event aims to share information on the guidelines of managing evacuation centers.
“This is a commitment of the agency [DSWD] to provide standard CCCM such as the designation of responsible offices or persons, implementation of laws and issuances, guide on resource allocation and quality of basic needs and services,” Garcia said.
The CCCM orientation will contribute in ensuring the safety and protection of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Albay due to the eruption of Mt. Mayon.
Ms. Marites Quismorio, Social Welfare Officer II, discussed salient provisions of the DSWD-DILG-DOH-DepEd Joint Memorandum Circular No. 1 series of 2013 such as the composition and functions of the Evacuation Center Management Committee (ECMC), composition and functions of Evacuation Center Management Team (ECMT), recommended Evacuation Center Management Structure and do’s and don’ts in CCCM.
On the other hand, Mr. Joseph Teston, Planning Officer III, tackled the information management such as the Information Management Tools being used, masterlisting and profiling of disaster victims and logbook of donations received in kind.
Teston stressed the importance of effective information management in evacuation centers.
“The information management is important because we will be able to have evidence-based decision-making and planning, common language to discuss issues and concerns and their corresponding action and efficient internal operations management and external coordination,” Teston explained.
The event was attended by various field offices of national government agencies (NGAs) such as Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Agriculture (DA). /ramsertan/
