Continuous processing and release of financial assistance at the Regional Office amidst the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office V Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) continues its services during this time of enhanced community quarantine in order to accommodate clients who are experiencing additional difficulties in this time of crisis.

The Department is mandated to work towards the achievement of improved capacities and opportunities of the poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals, families, and communities, to enable them to improve their quality of life. It is for this reason that DSWD continuously implements social welfare and development, social protection, and anti-poverty programs and projects in partnership with other intermediaries.

The AICS is being implemented by the Crisis Intervention Units (CIUs) of the Central Office and of the Field Offices through provision of services such as immediate rescue, and provision of financial assistance, psycho-social support, and material assistance including medical, transportation, financial, burial, and other services.

The beneficiaries of the AICS are walk-in and referred clients of the CIUs in DSWD CO, FOs, and/or satellite offices in the provinces. Priority is given to beneficiaries belonging to indigent families under the National Household Targeting System, families belonging to the informal sector, and other poor, marginalized, and vulnerable/disadvantaged families.

The financial assistance being given is a limited assistance either in cash or guarantee letters (to service providers) to individuals and families whose normal functioning has been hampered due to difficult situations brought about by dysfunctional situations that may be caused by poor health conditions, natural and man-made calamities, and other crisis situations.

DSWD’s commitment to selfless service can be gleaned upon the dedicated frontliners working amidst the threat of Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19). The Department strictly adheres to the requirements of social distancing and practice of proper hygiene to protect both its employees and clients from contracting the disease.

From March 16, 2020 to date, 514 clients have been served by the region and of the Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) offices amounting to Php2,276,000.00 covering the period of the enhanced community quarantine.
