Camarines Sur – Fire survivors in San Nicolas, Baao, Camarines Sur received relief goods and cash assistance from DSWD Bicol. Last Suturday, DSWD delivered 24 Family Food Packs (FFPs), 12 hygiene kits, and 12 sleeping kits to the families affected by the incident. The agency distributed PhP 37, 930.44 worth of relief goods and PhP 115,000.00 cash assistance to 12 out of 13 affected families (PhP 10,000 per family with totally damaged house and PhP 5,000 for partially damaged house). DSWD Bicol’s response was based on the initial report submitted indicating that 12 families were affected. Aside from cash assistance and relief goods, DSWD Bicol employees also conducted psychosocial intervention for the survivors to help them cope with the effects of the incident.
Initial Report
According to a report from the Bureau of Fire Protection-Baao, the fire was reported at 4:44PM on July 15, 2022, reaching 1st alarm status. It occurred in a residential area in San Nicolas, Baao. The bureau is conducting further investigation to determine the cause of fire and cost of damage. There were no reported casualties due to the incident however, six houses were totally damaged while one was partially damaged.
Assistance from other organizations
According to Agusto A. Bustarga, Barangay Captain of San Nicolas, the affected families also received assistance from other organizations such as Philreca, Ako Bicol, Angat Buhay, and a private donor. The barangay also provided food items to the families. The agency continuously coordinates with the Local Government Unit of Baao to determine further needs of the affected families.
