The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) honored exemplary community volunteers and partners during the 10th Regional BayanI Ka! Awards on Thursday, June 27 at Uma Hotel and Residences, Naga City, Camarines Sur.
The BayanI Ka! Awards with the theme, “Pagsalingoy” aims to highlight the invaluable efforts of individuals and organizations that greatly contributed to the development of their communities through collaboration and community empowerment as well as look back at the accomplishments of the program in nurturing the Community-Driven Development (CDD) approach.
Regional Director Norman S. Laurio delivered his message, commending the awardees for going above and beyond in achieving progress in their communities.
“BayanI Ka! Awards is more than an awards ceremony; it is a demonstration of our compassionate, collective action and the amazing results that we attained when people collaborate around a common goal,” he stated.
On the other hand, Director Rolando D. Villacorta Jr., Deputy National Program Manager (DNPM) for Operations, encouraged partners and stakeholders to continuously support the institutionalization of CDD.
“Because of the positive outcomes we have witnessed in our community through CDD, we are also continuously advocating for the institutionalization of our Community-Driven Development to support the congressional and senate bills,” he said.
He also added that this institutionalization will embed the principles of participation in the development agenda ensuring long-term support and resources of community-led initiatives.
More than 250 participants consist of community volunteers, local chief executives, LGU officials, DSWD Field Office, KALAHI-CIDSS National and Regional Program Management Offices attended the ceremony.
The awardees were selected through a virtual desk review held on April 17, 2024 with a panel of judges composed of partner-agency representatives and a media partner.
Each regional awardee received a development incentive worth PHP 10,000.00 and a plaque of recognition.
