Laurio, along with the SLPAs in Sorsogon Province, strikes a pose with First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos during the LAB FOR ALL Caravan in Sorsogon City. The SLPAs received cheques from the agency amounting to PHP 450,000.00 each.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Bicol’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) proudly participated in the LAB FOR ALL Caravan led by First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos in Sorsogon Province today. The event marked a significant step forward in promoting sustainable economic development in the region.

During the event, DSWD Field Office 5 thru the First Lady, awarded cheques amounting to PHP 450,000.00 each to two Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs) from the province: Sto. Niño Rice Retailers SLPA and Rice and Feeds Sta. Cruz SLPA. These funds will help jumpstart their livelihood projects and enhance the economic stability of their members.

Niño Rice Retailers SLPA, in her heartfelt gratitude to the agency.

In addition to the cheque handover, Uswag SLPA from San Bartolome, Sta. Magdalena, Sorsogon, showcased a variety of non-food and food products produced by the association. This display highlighted the diverse entrepreneurial efforts of the SLP beneficiaries and demonstrated the program’s positive impact on local economic development.

DSWD Bicol Regional Director Norman S. Laurio affirmed the agency’s commitment to helping SLPA members achieve a sustainable source of income. “We are thrilled to be part of this significant event led by First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos. The caravan provided a venue for our SLPAs to showcase their products. Our collaboration aims to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities and promote economic self-sufficiency among our beneficiaries,” he said.

The LAB FOR ALL Caravan, an initiative spearheaded by the First Lady, brings essential services such as health, education, and livelihood directly to communities, ensuring that the benefits of government programs reach those who need them most.###
