In line with the Women’s month celebration with a national theme: “Juana desisyon ma ay mahalaga sa kinabukasan ng bawat isa, Ikaw na! The DSWD Field Office 5 in coordination with the Regional Inter-agency Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children( RIACAT-VAWC) has lined-up the following activities: a foot parade and zumba, radio and tv guesting and a women’s day celebration/ caravan in an indigenous community in Iriga City.

This year’s celebration aims to pay tribute to all the women leaders who passionately led and continue to advance women’s advocacies. The women’s key roles and accomplishments in leadership, power and decision-making will be highlighted in order to influence and break the conservative mindset and belief that politics and leadership are not for women. This month’s celebration is also a perfect time to drum up the call for “ Juanas” to run in public office.

The objectives of this year’s women’s celebration are as follows:
1. To recognize and highlight women’s key roles and accomplishments and leadership, power and decision-making.
2. To share strategies and best practices women have employed to become successful women leaders.

The observance of the women’s month is binded by Proclamation no. 227 series of 1988 which provides for the observance of the month of March as Women’s role in history and Republic Act 6949 series of 1990 declaring March 8 of every year as National Women’s Day###eejerusalem
