The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Bicol proclaimed the student winners of the Bayanihan para sa Pag-usbong: Digital Poster Making Contest through a special ceremony held on Monday, October 2 at the KALAHI-CIDSS Regional Program Management Office, Bitano, Legazpi City, Albay.
In the competition, Edrian F. Salas from Ligao City National High School emerged as 1st placer, while Ashley Yzabelle L. De Vera from Philippine Science High School and Jerby Josh Ll. Saulon from Legazpi City Science High School bagged the second and third places, respectively.
The winners received plaques of recognition and cash prizes amounting to PhP 12,000.00 for 1st Placer, PhP 9,000.00 for 2nd Placer, and PhP 6,000.00 for 3rd Placer during the ceremony.
Salas was also hailed as Popular Choice wherein he received PhP 3,000.00 worth of cash prize and a plaque of recognition.
The contest, organized by Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) Regional Program Management Office, aimed at bringing out the creative expression of students on the principles of Community-Driven Development (CDD) strategy which are transparency, accountability, participation, and inclusivity.
Assistant Regional Director for Operations Melchor L. Sañano expressed his appreciation for the creativity and enthusiasm shown by the young artists.
“Their posters do not only display their artistic talent but also convey the significance of Bayanihan in community development,” he said.
The winning posters will be displayed during the regional activities of the Department, allowing the public to appreciate and be inspired by the artistic skills and messages conveyed by these young artists.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
KALAHI-CIDSS is a poverty alleviation program that helps communities in poor municipalities to identify challenges in poverty and implement developmental projects using the CDD approach.
Currently, there are five (5) modalities namely, National Community-Driven Development Program – Additional Financing (NCDDP – AF), PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNAn (PAMANA), Balik-Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa (BP2) Program, Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay – Cash for Work (KKB-CFW) and Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) being implemented in 97 municipalities or cities of Bicol Region.
