The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V – Bicol Region, in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, has initiated the distribution of 20 Family Water Filtration Kits to Local Government Units (LGUs) severely impacted by Severe Tropical Storm “Kristine,” facilitated through their Bureau of Fire Protection.
On October 30, 2024, the agency conducted an orientation and demonstration on setting up and using the water filtration systems. This event was attended by BFP representatives from various municipalities in Camarines Sur that were significantly affected by flooding.
The Department has allocated a total of 100 Family Water Filtration Kits for the province. The BFP in Magarao and Minalabac each received 10 units to support local residents, while DSWD continues to coordinate with other LGUs to distribute additional filtration kits.
During the event, BFP personnel tested the capacity and quality of water filtered through the DSWD systems.
SFO1 Aureo Pomposo Jr., a BFP representative, emphasized the importance of the water filtration systems, especially for LGUs facing critical shortages of clean and potable water.

The DSWD’s water filtration systems are designed to process ground and pump water, as well as floodwater, effectively removing bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms to ensure the water is safe for use and consumption.
DSWD Bicol is leading the prompt distribution of relief supplies, prioritizing the immediate needs of families affected by the recent storm.
This response highlights the Department’s ongoing commitment to delivering timely and effective assistance to safeguard communities during this crisis. ##
