CAMARINES SUR – On Sunday, January 19, 2024, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V – Bicol Region distributed PHP 7,910,110 worth of family food packs (FFPs) to 11,141 fishermen from 78 barangays in the municipalities of Tinambac, Lagonoy, San Jose, and Sagñay, Camarines Sur.

The relief distribution aims to provide additional support and early recovery services to the affected fisherfolk following the onslaught of Tropical Cyclones “Kristine” and “Pepito,” as well as the impact of the recent shear line in the area.

Under the directive of Regional Director Norman S. Laurio, the Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) team, in collaboration with local government units (LGUs), personally delivered the relief items to ensure they reached the affected fishermen.

DSWD Bicol will continue the distribution in the coming days to include other municipalities such as Siruma, Goa, Presentacion, Caramoan, and Garchitorena.

The field office remains committed to providing aid to other areas in the region severely affected by weather disturbances and other disasters.###
