The Department of Social Welfare and Development Bicol explains the spoiled relief goods which was already delivered to the evacuation centers in Albay for the affected families of Mayon Volcano.

In a press statement earlier this Morning, Regional Director Arnel B. Garcia, cleared that spoiled relief goods are only three family food packs in Ligao City, seven family food packs in Sto. Domingo, 10 family food packs in Camalig, three tins sardines in Malilipot, 10 tins sardines in Daraga, Albay.

“Contrary to the allegations of 22 sacks containing 132 family food packs of spoiled relief goods reported, only 33 family food packs are spoiled which is due to hauling of family food packs going to the respective evacuation centers,” Dir. Garcia said.

Also, he stressed that the Department is ready to replace all the damaged relief goods that are distributed in the respective evacuation centers in Albay. “The DSWD team has look into and validated the reports on spoiled relief goods and we have already informed the local government unit’s concerned and camp managers that all spoiled family food packs will be replaced,” he added.

As of Today, the initial assistance provided by the Department out of the 54,000 family food packs is 22,350 amounting to P7.6M befitting around 12,602 affected families in Albay by the eminent eruption of Mayon Volcano.***G.A.N. Lindio, IO-Pantawid
