The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 5 launches the Comprehensive Program for street children, families, and indigenous people (COMPRE) last June 24 at La Roca Veranda Suites and Restaurant.
“The program provides a package of services and interventions to respond to the needs and provide opportunities for streer children, streer families and Indigenous people especially the Bajaus to live productively and in a safe environment”explains DSWD Regional Director Arnel Garcia
The department will pilot this program in Legazpi city and to 7 other highly urbanized cities in 6 regions.
“ We thank DSWD for coming up with this kind of program,this is one of the scenario that I saw that needs much attention, sometimes we forget little problem but reducing or the absence of street children is the measurement of an organized and peace orderliness locality. This is a challenge for us and this is doable. So lets work for it.”said Hon. Mayor Noel Rosal during his acceptance message.
This program will provide specific services such as relocation project for street families and the Bajaus, creation of child-friendly centers for the life skills trainings and literacy activities, educational assistance and livelihood activities
For CY 2015, Region V has a working budget of 3.6 million.###
