Iriga City, Camarines Sur – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V-Bicol Region provided set of essential aid to the families affected by the fire incident occurred on March 21, 2025 in Barangay San Isidro, Iriga City, Camarines Sur.

 

Two families, the home owner and their tenant, were impacted by the incident after the fire partially burned their house, leaving significant damages to their properties.

 

As part of the continuous support to help the fire-stricken families recover, on March 27, 2025, the DSWD Bicol’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Program extended Php5,000 in financial assistance to each family. These cash aid programs are intended to supplement families’ basic needs.

 

Prior to this relief effort, on March 22, 2025, the Angels in Red Vests swiftly visited the area to conduct assessment and provide psychosocial intervention, while family food packs and non-food items were distributed on March 24, 2025.

 

In an interview with Ms. Nerma N. Campillas, 42, a solo parent, and the affected tenant, she expressed profound gratitude towards DSWD, as the Department helped her during her trying times.

This initiative reflects the dedication and commitment of the DSWD Bicol headed by the Regional Director Norman S. Laurio, following the directives of Secretary Rex Gatchalian to provide immediate assistance to in crisis families.
