The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office V has recently conducted the 2014 Search for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya.

Started in 2010, the activity aims to recognize the contribution of the families in complying with the set of conditions under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.

The Victoria Family of Buhi, Camarines Sur bagged the title as Bicol Region’s 2014 Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya.

As a winner, the family will serve as an advocate of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and will be speaking in various fora to share their inspiring story of positive change.  The family received a cash prize worth P15,000, P1,000 worth of gift certificate, a plaque and certificate of recognition.

Said family was adjudged as the model family of the Program for their consistent compliance to the set of conditions and their strong sense of family values and active engagement to the development in their community.

The Victoria family was able to spread the value of education and health in their community. They wholeheartedly extended help amidst difficult situation and able to instill the importance of loving and caring for the environment.

Nagpapasalamat po kami sa biyaya na naibigay ng programa sa amin, simula nang kami ay napasama sa programa malaki ang naitulong nito sa aming buhay na siyang nakapagpabago at nakapag-angat sa lugmok naming kinalalagyan. Sana ay mas marami pa ang matulungan ang programa,” said Marina Victoria.

Municipal Mayor of Buhi Rey P. Lacoste said indeed the program has helped a lot of poor families not only on the cash grant that the program provides but also through the family development sessions that gives awareness and knowledge on parenting, value for education, and health and community participation.

Meanwhile, first and second runners-up are the families of Antigua of Uson, Masbate and Lopez of Pandan, Catanduanes, respectively.

Regional Director Arnel B. Garcia commended the families and hopes through the huwaran families, family beneficiaries of the Program will be inspired to continuously improve their living condition and latter will be able to sustain their living.***G.A.N.L, Info. Officer
