Legazpi City, Bicol — With a firm commitment to enhance disaster response operations in the Bicol Region, the Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V – Bicol Region successfully conducted its 2nd Quarterly Meeting on June 26, 2025 at E Crown Hotel, Virac, Catanduanes.
The activity served as a platform to present the division’s recent accomplishments, assess current strategies, and collectively craft ways forward as the team prepares for the upcoming months with renewed vigor, strategic alignment, and strengthened coordination.
DRMD Chief and division members led the discussion on key program and operational updates including Disaster Response Information Management System (DRIMS) — enhancing real-time data reporting and monitoring of disaster situations, Disaster Response Reporting System (DRRS) — streamlining incident and relief response documentation, 7S of Good Housekeeping — reinforcing organizational discipline and operational excellence in emergency response, Project LAWA at BINHI — updates on cash-for-work and training initiatives that empower disaster-affected communities to rebuild resilient livelihoods.
The meeting also highlighted a future-ready approach to service delivery, emphasizing readiness, promptness, and the continued reliability of DRMD’s response to disasters and emergencies across Bicol. Action points were identified to ensure that systems are not only reactive but proactive, ensuring faster mobilization of resources and more efficient coordination with local government units (LGUs) and partner stakeholders. As the team prepares for the upcoming typhoon season and other potential emergencies, the DRMD emphasized the importance of strengthening their capacity not only to respond effectively but also to anticipate and mitigate risks.
The DRMD of DSWD Field Office V under the leadership of Regional Director Norman S. Laurio remains steadfast in its mandate to continuously innovate for timely, compassionate, and strategic disaster response services, living up to the call of serving the most vulnerable sectors in the Bicol Region.
