About 8,000 essential kits worth 4, 670, 000 and 734, 273.93 food items were turned-over to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Office here. The said assistance will be given to the displaced families of Mt.Mayon’s impending eruption.

Governor Salceda praised DSWD for the very fast action on the request of the provincial government. He emphasized that ever since DSWD has been very responsive and supportive to the local government units especially during disaster. It was also announced that the Family Development Sessions (FDS) will be conducted inside the evacuation centers.

The total cost of assistance extended by the DSWD is 5, 404, 273.93

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 5 also reported that as of 10:00 in the morning of September 18, 2014, there are four (4) municipalities are affected  namely Camalig, Guinobatan, Daraga and Malilipot including the three (3) cities, Tabaco, Legazpi and Ligao. As per report there are 26 barangays affected with 23 evacuation centers. There are 6, 218 families with 26, 063 persons inside the evacuation centers.

Director Arnel Garcia said that the Social Welfare and Development Team are still deployed in the different affected municipalities for monitoring and coordination with the LGU’s.##eejerusalem
