To minimize the impact of COVID-19 pandemic and serve as shelter for communities at risk during disasters, the Department of Social Welfare and Development Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (DSWD KALAHI-CIDSS) turned over the centralized COVID-19 quarantine facility or evacuation center in Canaman, Camarines Sur on June 17, 2022.
DSWD KALAHI-CIDSS and local government unit of Canaman funded PHP 10,622,518.52 for the construction of the 27-bed capacity quarantine facility or evacuation center.
Walter Wenceslao B. Pante, chairperson of Barangay Development Council – Technical Working Group (BDC – TWG) who led in overseeing the implementation of the sub-project cited that he learned constructing infrastructure projects, managing an organization, processing documents, and procuring goods by being a community volunteer.
“Ang turnover ng proyekto ay simula pa lamang upang maisakatuparan ang serbisyo na gusto naming ibahagi sa bayan ng Canaman,” he said.
(The turnover of the sub-project is just the start towards achieving our goals to provide services to the municipality of Canaman.)
Pante also gave his commitment that the operation and maintenance of the sub-project will be maintained to ensure long-term benefits for the people.
“Nakakataba ng puso na bilang isang simpleng mamamayan ay nabigyan ako at aking mga kapwa volunteer ng pagkakataon na makatulong sa pag-unlad ng aming barangay at ng aming munisipyo,” he added.
(It is heartwarming that as simple community members, we volunteers were given a chance to help in the development of our barangay and municipality.)
The Centralized Quarantine Facility or Evacuation Center is one of the 17 sub-projects of Canaman, Camarines Sur funded under the KALAHI-CIDSS Additional Financing (AF).
