Mt. Mayon is on Alert level 3 status which means that there is relatively high level of unrest and a hazardous eruption is possible within weeks.
About 10, 546 families from the towns of Malilipot, Daraga, Camalig, Guinobatan and Sto. Domingo is to be affected. Albay Governor Joey Salceda has ordered forced evacuation of families still residing within the 6 km.permanent danger zone of which the projected length of stay at the evacuation centers is from 90 to 147 days.
DSWD Director Arnel Garcia bared that the field office is ready with augmentation to support the local government units who will be most affected. The Emergency Response Team is already activated and some field office staff is being mobilized to conduct initial assessment and coordination with LGU’s.
According to Garcia, 10,000 essential kits which contains mats, malong and mosquito nets will be provided by the DSWD to Albay Provincial Government. The department also has sufficient fund and available rice for augmentation support to LGU’s.
However, as of press time the local government units of the affected municipalities have the capacity to provide food requirements for 13 days.
Meanwhile, 30 residents of the Reception and Study Center and 48 from Haven in Nasisi, Ligao City were evacuated to the Mormon Church in Polangui, Albay as the location within the 8 extended permanent danger zones. ##eejerusalem
