DSWD Field Office V, through its Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) and its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Program, immediately located and coordinated with the bereaved family of Jether Ayuban, who died in a road crash in Naic, Cavite with some others on board an L300 van.
DSWD Bicol provided cash aid to the family of Mr. Ayuban, 27, who was the driver of the vehicle that crashed last January 02, 2024 that resulted in six casualties and nine wounded patients.
The agency extended PHP 50,000 worth of burial assistance to the family today, January 06, Saturday, and issued a guarantee letter to the funeral service provider, covering the victim’s burial expenses.
DSWD Bicol Regional Director Norman S. Laurio also instructed AICS to provide educational assistance for Jether’s two siblings and one cousin. Also, peovision of medical assistance for their mother’s physical therapy and maintenance medicines.
Field Office V also coordinated with Field Office IV-A through RD Barry Chua, who will take charge of extending assistance to the 4 other victims who are in Antipolo.
“The loss of a loved one and at the same time, the liabilities the family of Mr. Ayuban has to face is an immensely distressing and difficult experience, the reason why DSWD immediately came to the rescue and is dedicated to continuously aid families during these challenging times,” RD Laurio said.
Jared Ayuban, Jether’s brother, expressed his gratitude to DSWD Bicol for providing the necessary support to their family in the untimely demise of his brother.
“Sobrang nahihirapan po kami sa lahat ng gastusin dahil kami po ang sumagot sa lahat ng bayarin sa punerarya ng mga namatay na imbwelto sa aksidente. Hindi po niri-release ng punerarya ang bangkay ng mga namatay hanggat hindi po namin nababayaran ng buo,” a teary-eyed Jared said.
Accordingly, the assistance from DSWD was a very big help to them for they would not be able to afford the expenses incurred by the accident since they have no other source of income.
RD Laurio assures the Ayuban family that the Department is committed to providing further assistance and support to them in collaboration with the other agencies that may be able to provide additional interventions.#
