A total of four (4) individuals and 12 families in Bicol Region received comprehensive assistance amounting to PHP 1,018,738.68 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Pag-abot Program in 2024.
Regional Director Norman S. Laurio explained that through the provision of social welfare protection services, interventions, and opportunities, the Pag-abot program aims to improve the social well-being of street children, individuals, and families while lowering their risks and vulnerabilities.
“The beneficiaries were identified through the program’s reach-out operations in the National Capital Region (NCR) and reintegrated back into their homes or place of origin,” he said.
Services provided under the program include financial assistance, transportation or relocation assistance, livelihood assistance, and transitory shelter assistance.
Director Laurio also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the beneficiary, agency, local government unit, and the communities as well.
“Through the interventions or packages provided and strengthened joint efforts with our partners, we aim to empower our beneficiaries in regaining growth and strive for a better future,” he shared.
