The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is committed to ethical, responsible and principled implementation of its programs and services. It is apolitical and frowns upon politicians who tend to use the agency for their personal campaigns. DSWD is focused on ensuring that the marginalized and vulnerable sectors are all covered through the help of its partner agencies.

The Educational Assistance is one of the many forms of assistance being provided by the DSWD under the program “Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation” or AICS.

The source of the funds intended for this program is taken from the annual budget of the National Government as provided for in the General Appropriations Act. As of this date, DSWD Bicol has disbursed a total of 28,047,000.00 for 9,348 clients as of the second Saturday of its distribution, August 27. Ongoing payouts are simultaneously being conducted today, September 3, across the region with 8,706 target beneficiaries.

Time and again, the agency reiterates its “No EPAL” campaign amidst the distribution of its Educational Assistance.  We wish to inform the public that DSWD is the implementing and funding agency, and has requested the logistical support of the Local Government Units (LGUs) for a bigger and more conducive venue, medical support team and security for a more organized and comfortable distribution of the educational assistance.
