About 2, 594 senior citizens in San Pascual, Masbate submit for a regular medical check- up and avail the health services of the Municipal Heath Unit.

Mayor Zacarina Lazaro, the town’s chief executive said that this activity which is being done every first Friday of the month aims to ensure that the senior citizens if not all are in good health condition. The senior citizens are required to report to their respective Barangay Health Unit wherein their blood pressure and blood sugar is being monitored.

Those found with severe ailment or need further medical intervention is being referred to the Municipal Health Doctor and there are those advised to go to Naga City or Albay for further check-up or hospitalization if needed. Medicines for hypertension and those for diabetes is being provided.

According to Mayor Lazaro, this activity has been institutionalized years back. Those found to be underweight avails of the feeding program conducted by the Municipal Nutrition Council. Those elderlies who are still physically fit join the HATAW every Friday after feeding. # # #eejerusalem
