The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), officially opened the Cherry Egg Production SLP Association last May 19, 2021 at Brgy. Paraiso, Milagros, Masbate.

The activity was graced and attended by the program participants, BLGU Representative and DSWD staff. A ribbon cutting ceremony marked the official opening of the business.

The project was funded under SLP’s Microenterprise Development-Seed Capital Fund (MD-SCF) with a total amount of Php 450,000.00. The SLPA is composed of 45 participants, all are Pantawid members. It has 40 male and 5 female who run their livelihood project.

Before the project implementation, a series of community consultations and data gathering were conducted in the area. This was designed to come up with a resource-based and market-driven enterprise. Program participants availing SCF modality were organized into associations and have been accredited by DSWD. Organizing them into associations is one way of providing capability building by the program to ensure the sustainability of the chosen livelihood project.

In return, the SLPA President Marcellina Angeles expressed her commitment to work hard and see new opportunities in the livelihood provided for them.

SCF is a capacity-building grant given to eligible SLP participants to finance the initial operations of their enterprise/s. It provides the participants with financial capital to be able to establish and manage their sustainable microenterprise/s, which should provide a stable source of income.

SLP is a community-based capacity building program that aims to improve the socio-economic condition of the participants. It facilitates interventions that expand the existing livelihood assets (human, social, physical, natural, and financial capital) of the participants so they may either have gainful employment or establish their chosen micro-enterprise. #NPOJPR05312021
