The Social Welfare and Development Employees Association of the Philippines – Mga Kawaning Sama-sama sa Mapag- paunlad na Asosasyon sa Bicol, Inc. (SWEAP – KASAMA SA Bicol, Inc.) of DSWD, Field Office V now turns 18 this year.

Founded mainly to protect and work for the promotion of the general benefit, rights and common interest of DSWD employees and to support a just and humane management. For its 18 years of existence, the association has now 1,074 members with a total asset of 628,200.00

Ronald Morco, the concurrent SWEAP President of Bicol claims that the remarkable achievement of the association is the enrolment of the MOA and contractual workers of the Field Office for membership in the Social Security System and the Philippine Health Insurance Program. Since its founding in 1996, SWEAP is continuously granting loans and financial assistance to its members and the low salaried employees and also the continuing conduct of human development activities .Another project of the association which is noteworthy is the practice of on-line voting. This is to give opportunity for the staff to vote without anymore coming to the field office.

The SWEAP-KASAMA sa Bicol, Inc is registered with the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC). The founding of the association is an exercise of the employee’s right to organize. It is the strategy of the employees supported by the management to ensure mutual protection to its members and work hand and hand with the management in creating and maintaining reasonable working condition for its employees in fostering professionalism in the service.
